ABOUT THE CHALLENGE

Welcome to the Matatu Film Stage 72-Hour Film Challenge, a creative sprint where filmmakers will write, shoot, and edit a short film in just three days inside Nyege Nyege Festival.

There’s no assigned theme or prop, your story is entirely your own. Capture the spirit, chaos, and beauty of Nyege Nyege. 🎶🎥

Your film can be funny, emotional, experimental, musical, anything, as long as it’s made within the 72 hours!

Rules and Guidelines

☑️ All films must be shot, edited & submitted within the 72-hour period.

☑️ Maximum duration: 10 minutes (including credits).

☑️ Films can be shot on any device (camera or smartphone).

☑️ All content in the submitted film must be original, or the filmmaker must hold full rights and permissions to use any included material such as music, footage, or images.

☑️ Teams must upload their final film or deliver to Matatu Film Stage team before the deadline. Submission Deadline is November 23rd 10:00am

☑️ Selected best films will be screened publicly at Nyege Nyege and on all Matatu Film Stage and Nyege Nyege socials and platforms

Confirm you agree to the rules and terms:

I confirm that I/my team own or have all rights to the film that will submitted.

I grant Matatu Film Stage and Nyege Nyege Festival permission to screen and promote our film on their platforms.

I understand that late submissions will not be considered.

I agree that short clips, stills, or images from our film may be used by Matatu Film Stage for festival promotion, social media, and documentation, always with proper credit to the filmmakers.

I/We understand that this challenge is a community-driven event and that there is no screening fee or monetary compensation for participation.

I/We accept full responsibility for the safety of our crew, cast, and equipment during production. Matatu Film Stage and Nyege Nyege Festival are not liable for any loss, injury, or damage that may occur during filming or festival activities.

I/We agree to respect the festival environment, fellow participants, festival goers and all production spaces, keeping the spirit of creativity, inclusion, and community alive.
