MATATU FILM STAGE 3RD EDITION
Matatu Film Stage (MFS) is a bold, pan-African traveling film festival that brings original, artistic cinema from Africa and its diaspora to audiences across the continent and beyond.
Rooted in Uganda and inspired by the energy of the matatu; East Africa’s iconic public van, the festival transforms everyday places into vibrant cultural stages for storytelling.
Now in its 3rd Edition (2025–2026), Matatu Film Stage continues its journey under the theme “Cinema Is Food, But People Are Starving.” This edition premiered in Kampala (Oct 4–10, 2025) and will travel through Gulu, Mbale, and Jinja (as part of the Nyege Nyege Festival), before expanding across borders to Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Ghana, Zimbabwe, Namibia, and the United Kingdom.
Each stop features curated screenings, filmmaker talks, workshops, and community experiences designed to connect audiences, nurture talent, and celebrate African creativity.
